Benefits Of Hemp
Made In Hemp's hulled hemp seeds are an excellent source of both complete protein and omega 3, 6 and 9. Unlike other seeds, hemp does not contain phytic acid. Therefore, it does not need to be activated, making it super easy to utilise it into your diet. Plus, with the outer fibrous shell being removed, hulled hemp seeds are easy for the body to digest and the nutrition easily utilised by the body. Hemp protein contains the 18 key amino acids including 10 essential amino acids. Hemp seeds contain an adequate supply of these high quality proteins needed for a well balanced diet. Hemp protein is free of the trypsin inhibitors which block protein absorption and free of oligosaccharides found in soy, which causes stomach upset and gas. Because hemp protein is processed by pressing and refining the whole seed, it is also a fantastic source of insoluble fibre.
A Better Choice For Those With Allergies
Hulled hemp seeds are naturally free from gluten, cholesterol, nuts, sodium, and lactose. Made In Hemp food products are processed on allergen free machinery with allergen declarations available upon request. Hemp seeds are also a great choice for children and pregnant women because of their high natural concentration iron, zinc, magnesium and folate.
Iron, zinc and magnesium are concentrated in the protein, not in the oil as is widely proclaimed. As the protein powder is refined, the concentration of these important minerals increases. We currently offer both a 43% and a 50% protein. Obviously, the higher the protein the less fibre is prevalent. Therefore, hemp protein powder is particularly good for everyone including vegetarians, vegans and omnivores.
Hemp Seed Oil For Your Diet. Why you should use Hemp Seed Oil.
Hemp seed oil is cold pressed from the whole hemp seeds. It provides an ideal concentrated balanced ratio of Omega-6 and Omega-3 fatty acids (3:1) and no protein as widely proclaimed. It is this ideal balance of essential fatty acids that makes hemp seed oil particularly good for you. These are short chain fatty acids which your body efficiently converts to its required long chain fatty acids. This is a more ideal situation rather than force feeding your body a particular type of fatty acid, like that found in fish oil. Hemp seed oil allows your body to pull out only what it requires, thus making it more utilised by the body or more bioavailable. Hemp seed oil has a delicious nutty flavour and is quite delicate due to its high polyunsaturated fat content. Therefore, it should be kept in the fridge and should not be used as a substitute for frying oils. We go to go great lengths to ensure our oil reaches you intact. We do this by ensuring it is bottled with no oxygen present by purging with food grade nitrogen as often used in the wine industry. We also are very particular not to use any glass as even coloured glass allows UV light penetration, which rapidly degrades this oil by increasing the peroxide value. Most display fridges use fluorescent lights which emit very concentrated UV light. Therefore our practices during bottling play an important role.
